Helping kids achieve their goals – with a little sup-paw-t from a Therapy Dog
Kites Children’s Therapy is based in Victoria Park, supporting children with developmental delays, disabilities, and additional needs. Offering a wide range of services tailored to each child, Kites provides expert therapy in a caring, child-friendly environment with a unique, much-loved addition: Therapy Dogs.
Kites provides paediatric Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Psychology and more, helping children from birth to 18 build the skills they need to live their life, their way. Whether it’s improving communication, building social confidence, or developing physical strength and coordination, Kites therapists work alongside families to set meaningful goals and celebrate every achievement along the way.
What makes Kites unique is the opportunity for children to participate in therapy sessions supported by a Guide Dogs WA trained Therapy Dog. Most often, Dog-Assisted Therapy sessions are completed with Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Psychologists, but including the Dogs in any therapy session is a possibility. These calm, friendly dogs are more than just companions. They help motivate children, reduce anxiety, and make therapy feel less like work and more like play. From brushing the dog to practising commands or simply enjoying a cuddle, children often achieve more when their furry friend is by their side.
The Kites team understands that every child is different. That’s why their approach is always family-centred, flexible, and focused on building confidence at home, school, and in the community.
