2025 Northam Elevate Festival
Get ready for an unforgettable evening on June 1 at the 2025 Northam Elevate Festival! A mesmerising balloon glow will light up the night with balloons tethered and glowing in time to the music on stage; a magical experience not to be missed (weather permitting).
This year’s headline act, The Baby Animals, will rock the stage with their electrifying performance, and will be the finale of a jam-packed stage show guaranteed to entertain.
Explore the vibrant markets, visit the bar area (over 18’s only), and indulge in delicious treats from the food stalls. Elevate also boasts thrilling carnival rides, fireworks, and a variety of family-friendly activities that promise fun for all ages.
Elevate will be held in conjunction with the 2025 Northam Light Balloon Fiesta, which will showcase hoppers and balloons from far and wide across the Northam skies between May 30 and June 2.

Toddler Playdate
Looking for a fun, free way to entertain your little ones? The Shire of Harvey is bringing the ultimate morning of play to Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre – and it’s all about 0–5 year olds and their grown-ups!
Expect messy play, dress-ups, farm animals, dancing, singing, painting, entertainment, kindy gym… basically, all the things that make tiny humans smile (and maybe get a little paint on their face).
Afterwards, you can check out the Harvey Indoor Markets happening at the same time — grab a bite, sip a coffee, and browse the local stalls. Best of all, entry is FREE!

FIFO Family Meet-Up
Are you a FIFO family in Perth, wanting to meet others who get what it’s like to live a FIFO life?
This free event is your opportunity to connect and have a cuppa with other local FIFO Families who ‘get it’, where you can begin to overcome the loneliness and isolation that too often comes with FIFO rosters and being a FIFO partner.
Bonus – you get an outing on a Sunday morning, where the kids are contained (fully-fenced play area), you’re inside if it rains and there are lots of great coffee shops nearby.

Sunday Fundays – Claremont Museum
Get creative at the Claremont Museum on selected Sundays over autumn and winter with a range of fun and educational kids activities. Activities take place in the Museum Courtyard between 11am-1pm and are suitable for all ages. We ask parents to always supervise their children and assist where required. The Thornlie-Cockburn Line is opening
For the first time ever, passengers will be able to travel directly between the Mandurah and Armadale Lines, linking up to Optus Stadium and beyond – thanks to the new METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Line. To celebrate – Link Up, Line Up – a family-friendly, community event is happening on Sunday 8 June from 8.30am-1pm and you’re invited! There’ll be free food, live entertainment and local community stalls at Thornlie, Nicholson Road and Ranford Road stations. Plus, you can wander through the five brand-new elevated stations on the inner Armadale Line – Carlisle, Oats Street, Queens Park, Cannington and Beckenham. Walk for Reconciliation
Join us for the Walk for Reconciliation, a powerful moment of truth-telling, reflection, and solidarity as we close National Reconciliation Week 2025 at the Culturally significant Galup (Lake Monger). This walk honours the storytelling that was passed down to Doolann-Leisha Eatts (Garlett) by her grandmother Yurleen Bennell (Garlett), and acknowledges all Carriers of the Galup massacre story. Makuru Arts Festival – Flowerpot Music
This winter, Cockburn debuts the Makuru Arts Festival, a dynamic new arts festival set to ignite Memorial Hall with theatre, film, dance, visual arts, music, and workshops throughout June and July. The exciting and accessible program delivers high-quality arts experiences to audiences, such as interactive music events, and powerful First Nations storytelling through film. The lineup features acclaimed Perth theatre companies The Last Great Hunt, Big hART, and Max Burton, plus two curated music events by iconic WA artists. Memorial Hall will also transform into a creative hub, workspaces, and exhibitions.
Flowerpot Music
Sunday 15 June, 2-4.30pm Free Manning Park Sound Shell, Hamilton Hill (In case of rain the session will move to Memorial Hall, Hamilton Hill) Join in this free, two-hour immersive music-making session led by local percussionist Thea Rossen. To participate you need to bring a flowerpot that will make sound, such as glazed pots (best option), terracotta, metal bowls, jars or porcelain pots. Avoid plastic or wooden pots as they don’t make much sound. Yarn mallets provided. No experience is required and it’s suitable for ages 12 and over. There’s also a complimentary afternoon tea. Starting in February 2023, the Joondalup Family Centre is hosting Community Eats – a free delicious meal and a chance to connect with friends, family and neighbours. Keeping Kids in Mind is a 5-week course for separated parents who are experiencing on-going conflict. Circle of Security – Free Parenting Workshop Series
A times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. The Circle of Security Program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. This free series of workshops is for parents with children aged 4 months to 6 years and is delivered by the Midvale Hub Parenting Service.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are a hot topic right now. There is lots of conflicting information which might be making it hard for you to work out whether an EV would work for you. Come along to have all your EV questions answered, including:

She has worked on many solar projects from 5-500kW in size and is passionate about helping people navigate the sometimes confusing process of reducing their energy use.

International Yoga Day 2025-Kids special
The one-hour yoga session will include yoga essentials:
- Breathing techniques~ 5 minutes
- Yoga for kids~30 minutes
- Meditation for kids~15 minutes
- Yogic stories~5 minutes
By incorporating all these beautiful facets of yoga, we can look beyond the level of the physical body and sharpen our sensitivity and awareness of subtler levels of existence. The regular practice of yoga helps to
- Reduce Stress levels.
- Improve flexibility and fitness.
- Boost immunity
- Improve health and fitness.
Please bring your kids early and be seated by 9:50 am to start the event on time.
What to bring:
Please wear loose clothes for stretching and meditation purposes.
Bring your yoga mat and water bottle.
Finishing your light breakfast around 8 am is recommended for a better yoga and meditation experience.

Community Planting Day at Maylands Samphires
Help protect and enhance the City’s natural environment and biodiversity by participating in a community planting day. Trowels, gloves and light morning tea provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves if they want, as well as enclosed footwear (gumboots are useful if you have them), raincoat, hat and a water bottle. Planting to occur near the Tennis Courts – see information link for map. For more information, contact the City’s Environment Officer on 9270 4177.
