WA Day Family Events 2019
WA Day is a celebration of our great state. It commemorates the foundation of the Swan River Colony near Perth in 1829. Formerly known as Foundation Day, it was changed to WA Day to reflect our diverse culture and to respect the longer history of the Aboriginal community.

SOTA Festival 2019
Monday, 3 June, 12pm to 9pm
Burswood Park, Resort Drive, Burswood
Get ready for a FREE, all-ages gig featuring an epic line-up of local talent.
Co-presented by WAM, you’ll enjoy banging tunes from some of WA’s biggest and best home-grown artists and performers. In addition to these awesome sounds we’ll have plenty of food and drink to keep you hydrated and dancing all day long.
So all ages won’t miss a second of the SOTA Fest action, we have a bigger than ever all ages area right in front of the stage.

WA Day Festival Pinjarra

Pinjarra, make some noise at the free Alcoa Pinjarra WA Day Concert. Hosted by Shire of Murray with some of WA’s best live bands.
FAMILY SHOVELLER BAND
The day will also be to foodies’ tastes, with delicious cuisine on offer from over 25 street vendors, and refreshing drinks from local brewer, Thorny Devil.
LiveLighter Pinjarra Festival 2019

Model Railway Exhibition 2019
Saturday, 1 June to Monday, 3 June, 9.30am to 4pm

Perth’s largest Model Railway Exhibition – not to be missed!
Do you love model trains? Are your children or grandchildren, or parents/grandparents fascinated by them? Yes? Well, do not miss the opportunity to get together for the annual MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION in June!
Come along to see the amazing train layouts the modellers have put together. The intricate scenery and attention to detail really is a sight to see, not to mention solving the Model Railway puzzles!
Free Bouncy Castle for the young ones. Take the train ride around the exhibition.
There will be a HUGE range of model rail on display. The different settings will light up your imagination as you peek into a mini rail world. You can even operate one of our U drive layouts! There will be 36 model layout exhibitors and 9 trade exhibitions, local and from other states. Not to mention the dioramas (3D railway scenes).
Fans of LEGO® will also be ecstatic to see what displays Briktober-Perth and WA Brick Society have – these are always a marvel of design and clever construction.
For those with a need for speed, try your hand at the ‘Slot Cars’.
Plus lots of the Kindred Societies will be there, ‘CastleDare’, ‘Hotham Valley Railway’, ‘Perth Electric Tram Society’, Bennett Brook Railway’.
A display of remote control trucks and cars will also be on show. See these trucks pull road trains consisting of two or more trailers.
There is also a great selection of food and beverages so you can stay for the whole day!

Gather the troops and bring them down to Bicentennial Square for a day of great free family entertainment hosted by the Stirling Arts Centre.
There’s load of live entertainment from local bands, Bollywood Dancers, traditional Noongar dance and Top of the Stairs Puppets. Entertain the kids with craft activities and laser tag. Plus Market stalls, cultural experiences and lots of delicious food to enjoy from local food trucks.
WA Day Festival Newman

The WA Day Festival provides an opportunity for Pilbara residents to celebrate their state and experience the abundance of local culture, film and foods available in West Australia.
Attendees will get to take part in an educational language lesson with the Martu artists of the region , they will experience cultural diversity through a short film festival and experience local treasures through WA food tastings and local community markets.

NO ALCOHOL – Scarborough beach is an alcohol free zone, and is strictly monitored regularly by police and rangers.
There is a couple of bars and a number of licensed restaurants within 200m of the Amphitheatre.

Vincent Fire Station Open Day

Perth’s newest Fire Station is opening its doors to the community for their first Open Day!
Take a tour of Vincent Station, see displays for road crash rescue, fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment. There will be face painting, a coffee van and sausage sizzle.
Family Nature Day

Herdsman Lake Wildlife Centre, corner Flynn and Selby Streets, Wembley
Thanks to our enthusiastic volunteers, the Herdsman Lake Wildlife Centre is open this Sunday (and every first Sunday of the month), providing an opportunity for families to enjoy the natural history of Herdsman Lake together on the weekend.
Feel free to explore the centre and get involved in nature-based activities such as scooping for aquatic fauna. There will also be a guided bird walk around the lake, starting at 2:30pm, so don’t miss out!
FREE for Friends of the WA Gould League or $5 person/$20 Family.
Friends of the WA Gould League get FREE entry to the Centre for 12 months, FREE entry to Family Nature Days and Discounts for our annual events. They also receive a limited edition 80th Anniversary Badge in 2019 and a Nature Passbook with a sticker to collect each Noongar season.

2019 WA Day Festival Albany

There’s no better place to celebrate WA Day. Bring the whole family and enjoy live entertainment, culture, delicious food or try your luck in the Annual Thong Throwing Competition.
There’s some great local performers and Indigenous dancers. With loads of activities for the kids including a petting zoo, reptiles, clowns, face painting and a bouncy castle and obstacle course.
WA SHORT FILMS ON SHOW PRESENTED BY SCREENWEST. Filled with lots of laughs, some young love, bee business, families coming together, a touch of sports magic and a whole lot of fun. From creators in Broome and beyond to inner city to right down south of WA, these shorts are suitable for all by a range of talented WA filmmakers.
Soak up some culture with Community Art Piece “Our Coastal Landscape, photography forum and Museum of the Great Southern Discovery Centre activities and exhibitions.
Foodies can take their pick from the Wood Fired Treats Van, Cultcha Kitchen, authentic Chinese street food or homemade cakes and sandwiches just like Nanna used to make from the Red Cross.
2019 WA Day Festival Geraldton

The WA Day Festival is here, and ‘family fun’ is officially on the menu.
If you love a barbie, then come on down and enjoy Geraldton’s Biggest BBQ – it promises to be a multicultural feast, with everything from seafood, burgers, paella, vegetarian delights and damper to enjoy.
Immerse yourself in the culture of our region, with entertainment from Phil Walleystack, as well as Aboriginal performances and incredible sand murals to behold. You’ll also find discovery trails inside the Museum, as well as giant WA native animals and the Museum of Geraldton Travelling Exhibition – The Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year 2018.
WA Short Films on Show presented by Screenwest. Filled with lots of laughs, some young love, bee business, families coming together, a touch of sports magic and a whole lot of fun. From creators in Broome and beyond to inner city to right down south of WA, these shorts are suitable for all by a range of talented WA filmmakers.
The Museum deck will also come alive with a new pop up cafe and live music. Or get involved with the fishing competition, Long Boat rides or Volunteer Sea Rescue.
You also have a chance to experience the Museum of Geraldton like never before with “living exhibitions’ featured by Euphorium Youth Academy.
There’s plenty to keep the kids busy, too. They’ll love the Scinapse science activities and Kidzhub Chill-our tent. Or they can try out the surf machines, art and craft activities, or cuddle up to some very cute critters.
2019 WA Day Festival Port Hedland

Co-presented by WAM, this awesome, drug and alcohol-free event features a FREE all-ages gig with a huge line up of home-grown talent.
