DESCRIPTION:Want to learn how to make healthy breakfast while hanging with other like young people? Come join the youth team to make a fun  breakfast\n\n\nJoin us for this fun free activity! \nAll youth aged between 11 – 17yrs are invited to register and join our youth workers for a special\, two hour workshop to cook a Big breakfast including waffles\, pancakes\, fruits\, yoghart and more while sharing a meal together to explore new foods and flavors. Join us for some holiday fun!” \nRegister your interest in our session . This event is open for young people aged 11-17yrs\, youth who do not meet the required age will have their ticket refunded. \nPlease ensure that you arrive 5 mins prior to the event start time to have your name marked off by one of the Youth Workers and bring your ticket with you. \nPlease note that food will be provided during this event. Water is available however we do encourage you to bring your own water bottle and preferred snacks. \nDuty of Care: The City of Canning is committed to providing safe and supported environments where young people can feel welcome and thrive. Our qualified youth team will do all they can to ensure young people are safe\, supported and supervised during their time on our programs and in our centres. A large part of our Youth Service is delivering drop-in from youth centres and outreach activities at various locations; meaning young people can come and go as they please during opening times. Please note: if a young person chooses to leave in the middle of a program or centre open hours\, they have the right to do so. City of Canning does not take responsibility for young people who leave the centre or are not in the premises. An afternoon of fashion\, creativity and second chances. Bring clothes to swap\, something to repair\, or an old piece you want to transform into something totally new. \nClothes swapBring your fashion faves that you’ve outgrown and swap them for something fresh! Here’s how: \n· Bring up to 5 awesome\, gently-loved clothes\, shoes or accessories (no small children’s clothes\, please). \n· Drop them at the swap stall \n· Hunt for your next signature look. \nMending machinePedal\, stitch\, create! \nCheck out the one-of-a-kind bike powered sewing machine. Hop on\, start pedalling\, and watch your energy bring clothes back to life! The Mending Machine turns repair into something fun\, creative\, and totally hands-on\, proving that fixing your clothes can feel just as exciting as buying something new. \nBring something to repair on the day or jump on the Mending Machine to create your own mini phone bag from salvaged fabric. \nUpcycling StationCome get creative at our hands-on Upcycling Station. Bring along a T-shirt\, jeans\, jacket\, tote bag or any piece you’d love to refresh and personalise. \nDenim Feather Activity:Transform old denim into beautiful feather creations while discovering the hidden story behind a pair of jeans. Did you know denim can reveal different colours and textures depending on the direction you cut it? Come experiment and create your own unique feather from salvaged fabric! \nCreative Customisation Corner:Use stamps to creatively cover stains\, add buttons\, experiment with simple hand sewing\, and personalise your clothes with fun details that make them feel new again. \nNo sewing experience needed – just curiosity\, creativity\, and a willingness to try something new. \n \nFree sausage sizzle. \nThis event is run in partnership with Care to Rewear. DESCRIPTION:This engaging\, hands-on workshop upcycling activities create eco-friendly items such as Tawashi sponges from old socks and no-sew bags\n\n\nEver wondered what’s really behind your wardrobe? \nJoin Steph from Care to Rewear for this interactive clothes workshop for games\, upcycling activities and insights into the hidden life of textiles. \nExplore natural versus synthetic fibres\, learn about the environmental impact of the textile industry\, and create your own eco-friendly tawashi scrubbing sponge from upcycled materials. \nFun\, eye opening and hands-on! \nPlease bring a t-shirt and odd socks on the day (ideally cotton if possible). \nOpen to young people aged 11-17yrs \nThis workshop has been supported by a grant from the Government of Western Australia and the Waste Authority. Together\, we’re giving young people in Canning the tools and inspiration to rethink fast fashion and choose sustainable alternatives.
