Harbour View Park is a partially fenced toddler friendly playground in Hillarys. The playground consists of a boat inspired climbing frame, with small ladders, a rock climbing wall, enclosed slide, steering wheel and speaking tube. The rubber softfall flooring is perfect for my toddler who is a sand eater. Other equipment includes two white rocking horses, and a set of swings, with one toddler swing and one normal swing. Also within the fenced area is adult exercise equipment, perfect if your child is old enough to entertain themselves on the play equipment while you sneak a workout in. On one Read more…

Set right in the middle of the new, vibrant dining and entertainment precinct at Westfield Whitford City is a beautifully unique play area for children. Overlooked by many of the restaurants and sheltered underneath shade sails, the play area is unlike any I’ve ever seen before. Forgoing traditional play equipment, which tends to be age specific, the mix of wooden stepping stones, ceramic arches and decorative metal poles appeared to appeal to children of all ages. Throughout the evening I saw all age groups from toddlers to preteens climbing and jumping and running, all thoroughly engaged and having plenty of Read more…

Set on the sheltered beach at the vibrant Hillarys Boat Harbour is this lovely playground. With a nautical theme including its very own rocking boat, there are steps and ladders, bridges and even a double slide to race down. The equipment is well designed for younger children with toddlers confidently navigating their way around. The boat is very popular and has a few seats and steering wheel for the captain and, unlike others I’ve seen before, it has some open sides so younger children can also climb up and down themselves. The main structure has plenty to do including a sand Read more…

Mawson Park Playground is a little treasure of a park for parents of toddlers and kids who aren’t prone to running off into the road or lake and love climbing! There are more swings than you can possibly want in a park and lots of great intricate playframes and structures. Lots of swinging action to be had in this park. Great little fantasy play area in the “Outback Cafe” A great place for the kids to hide in and climb trees. There’s a large sandpit set alongside the main playground so don’t forget to bring a bucket and spade and Read more…

The recent addition of a Nature Playground gives you another reason to visit the already fabulous Mawson Park in Hillarys. The nature playground is situated across the lake from the original ‘manufactured’ playground and although smaller, offers just as much fun for the kids. It’s particularly good if your child needs to practice their balancing, and if they enjoy sand play. The Mawson Park Nature Playground is sand-based with some areas mulched and consists of structures made mainly from local wood. The aim of nature-based playgrounds is to provide a rich play and learning environment for children to explore and Read more…

In a hidden pocket of Hillarys, lies a freshly revamped kids playground set amongst the leafy trees and green lawns of Broadbeach Park. This picturesque park boasts a gorgeous lake with black swans and ducks gliding on its tranquil water, and pretty pathways to walk and scoot on. Broadbeach Park’s best feature is a flying fox that picks up impressive speed as the kids zoom down its rail. Both launch pads are softfall surfaces and there is plenty of soft sand between them to cushion any falls. The flying fox is a firm favourite for the older kids and generally Read more…
