The Cheeky Peach Patisserie Cafe is a new modern patisserie to open recently in Tuart Hill. We popped in after a busy morning at the park and were pleasantly surprised.
While The Cheeky Peach doesn’t have a specific kids menu, it does have lots of options that would work for children, and welcomes families with high chairs and babycinos. Babycinos are also free with any hot drink purchase.
For our visit, I ordered latte, a bacon and egg roll and a citrus tart. Miss 4.5 decided she wanted a chocolate brownie and couldn’t be convinced to try anything else.
The coffee was excellent, a very smooth 5Senses blend, and the bacon and egg roll was tasty. The citrus tart though was amazing! The filling was full of zesty flavour. Miss 4.5 loved the brownie and still talks about it now. This came on a reusable plastic plate with plastic cutlery. The chocolate layer on top needed some help from my metal knife, but the rest she demolished. Under the chocolate was a layer of delicate chocolate cream, and the cakey brownie on the bottom. Chocolate lovers heaven!
On walking in, The Cheeky Peach Patisserie Cafe has two cabinets full of beautiful cakes, slices, tarts, pastries and rolls to choose from. More muffins and cookies are available from glass jars and platters by the cash register and the coffee machine. All are made in-store each day by the friendly staff.
I’ve also stopped in without Miss 4.5 in tow for morning tea after school drop off. The coffee is consistently good, and I can add that the pies and sausage rolls are ah-mazing! They’re also made fresh daily by the busy staff.
Currently the mid-week special here, available from 7am to 11am, is $9 for a medium sized hot drink with any cake or slice or tart from the cabinet. With the summer school holidays almost upon us, they have also added a special for the kiddos – A milkshake and cookie or gingerbread man for $7.50. That’s pretty good value if you’re stopping in for morning tea!
With Christmas around the corner, The Cheeky Peach is also currently stocking small and large fruit cakes, packs of mince pies, Christmas tree meringues, gingerbread men and even Christmas cheesecake. Handy if you have a Christmas get together to go to and aren’t sure what to bring.
The back wall of the patisserie, behind all the seating, has a fun mural of a giant peach surrounded by smiling apples, with the tagline: “In a world of apples, be a Cheeky Peach”. Miss 4.5 loved it and enjoyed posing next to it, trying to replicate the peach’s pose.
Whilst we were eating and talking about the mural, the chef came walking past. In her typical style, Miss 4.5 decided to bend his ear. Chef Andrew was happy to chat with her and answer her questions about the wall art. He said all the kids love the mural and the flowers above it.
The only thing that would make this cute patisserie more fab would be a few books, toys or some colouring in for the kids. Otherwise, the staff were wonderful with Miss 4.5 and her many questions. We both felt very welcome and the food was fresh and delicious. For energetic little ones, if you don’t mind the walk, there is a lovely playground across the road behind Dogswamp Shopping Centre. So you could always combine a play and a visit to see the ducks with a stop in at The Cheeky Peach.
