Situated on bustling Cambridge Street in Wembley is Solstice Cafe, a chilled out, modern cafe with a focus on fresh, healthy food.In the front of the cafe, we found a lovely little children’s corner next to some very comfy seating. The toy selection includes picture books, some cooking toys, colouring books with pencils, a puzzle, and dominos.
The children’s area is set up in such a way that parents can enjoy their meal or coffee without worrying about children bolting out the front door. It kept Miss almost 3 very busy!
Solstice Cafe has a small selection of children’s menu options. These include pikelets with maple syrup and ice cream or scrambled eggs with toast fingers, each for $12.50. There is also the Solstice Little Lunchbox, which consists of sandwich quarters, fruit and a Charlie’s juice pouch, for $11. Babycinos are available for a gold coin donation. Solstice Cafe supports Telethon’s Babycino for Bambinos.
By the counter, there is a glass cabinet full of delicious food ranging from cakes and croissants, to colourful fresh salads, rolls and raw balls. There are gluten-free and vegan options included.
In addition to their range of beautiful fresh food, Solstice Cafe also has a range of cold drinks on the menu. They do fruit smoothies, iced coffee and iced chocolate, milkshakes and juices. Their juices has come with enticing names like The Jive, Strawberry Sensation and Sweet Tooth. Check the chalkboard to see what the special is for the week.We popped in just for morning tea, with me grabbing a latte and a slice of carrot cake, and Miss almost 3 opting for a chocolate peanut butter cookie. The coffee comes in three strength options. I went with just a solo (single shot), and it was perfect. A mild blend with fruity notes. They also offer a range of milk options with your coffee – soy, rice, lactose-free or almond milk – for 80c extra.
The atmosphere at Solstice Cafe bright and relaxed, and the service was friendly. Miss almost 3 played for a good hour in the children’s corner, and I was able to enjoy a hot cuppa without stressing she’d get bored and take off. A major win! An hour passed before I’d even realised.Solstice Cafe is located at 224 Cambridge Street Wembley, on the corner of Gregory Street.
