Royal Street Food & Coffee is a bright, new cafe specializing in coffee, takeaway food and light meals. It is located in Tuart Hill, and features a fun kids corner.
The kids corner is set up at the front right of the cafe, with a wooden drawing table, plastic construction toys, and a small toy steering wheel. Miss 3 spent ages colouring in with both pencils and crayons, and “fixing” things with the plastic tools. This game included “fixing” my phone!
We ordered a takeaway latte and a ham and cheese toastie, and a gingerbread cookie for little Miss. This cost us just $12! Such a reasonable price, I think. The coffee was a mild blend, and very smooth, no bitterness to it.
Miss 3 also had a babycino, which was free with my coffee.
There is a mix of food on offer to go with their delicious coffee at the counter or in a shiny glass cabinet. These include fresh salads, toasties, rolls and breakfast wraps, and frittatas. They also offer a small selection of made-while-you wait meals such as fried rice or stir fry.
In addition to the food in the cabinet, they also have a small selection of fresh fruit, chocolate and chips available to the side of the counter. To the other side there is a refrigerator full of cold drinks, juices, water and yoghurts. Handy for a snack or refreshment on the go!
The atmosphere is light and relaxed, with a mix of metal and wooden furniture, colourful rugs in the floor, and retro-style pictures on the walls.
A long bench seat runs under the window by the kids corner, with comfy cushions and a view of Royal Street and boxes of geraniums out the front. There’s load of room to park a pram, inside or outside, and the toys are sure to keep little ones busy.
The cafe was very new when we visited, so still in the process of setting up some parts. However I can see that it’s going to be a warm, family-friendly place to visit once fully completed. We found the service was friendly, and the staff very accommodating of a busy family.
Royal Street Food & Coffee is located at 73 Royal Street, Tuart Hill, on the corner of Wattle Street.
