DESCRIPTION:Be scientists like Edison\, Curie\, or Darwin\, with a real scientist. Ask questions while conducting several small experiments.\n\n\nCome and explore the weird world of metals. We will be diving into chemistry and physics with various metals. \nThe core activities include metal etching\, creating tarnish/patina through corrosion\, and plating different metals. There will also be a few other small\, related experiments. \nThe aim is to bolster curiosity about science. As a final product\, we’ll create a small\, science-based tag or bookmark. \nLook out for a surprise event that will happen at the end! While it’s not related to metal\, it is definitely entertaining. \n\n\nRegister your interest. This event is open for young people aged 11-17yrs\, youth who do not meet the required age will have their ticket refunded. \nPlease ensure that you arrive 5 mins prior to the event start time to have your name marked off by one of the Youth Workers and bring your ticket with you (digital or QR code preferred). \nPlease note that food will not be provided during this event. Water is available however we do encourage you to bring your own water bottle and preferred snacks. \nDuty of Care: The City of Canning is committed to providing safe and supported environments where young people can feel welcome and thrive. Our qualified youth team will do all they can to ensure young people are safe\, supported and supervised during their time on our programs and in our centres. A large part of our Youth Service is delivering drop-in from youth centres and outreach activities at various locations; meaning young people can come and go as they please during opening times. SUMMARY:Cloud Clay Spaceships
DESCRIPTION:Cloud Clay Space Ships is a hands-on\, space-themed workshop where participants build cloud-clay spacecraft to display around a jar illuminated by a tealight. \nCloud Clay Space Ships is a space-themed\, hands-on workshop where participants design and sculpt their own miniature spacecraft using soft\, moldable cloud clay. \nWorking around a glass jar that will hold a glowing tealight\, makers shape rockets\, satellites\, and other cosmic forms\, attaching them to the jar’s surface to create a luminous\, atmospheric scene. As the tealight shines through and around the clay forms\, the finished piece becomes a small\, glowing world that celebrates creativity\, texture\, and the wonder of space exploration. \nPlease book in as spaces are limited.  \nThis program is suitable for children aged 6 – 12 and is a hands-on workshop. Please book one ticket for each person attending. Photography and videography may be taken at this event.
