The obvious benefits of meeting in a safe friendly supportive positive and encouraging space to create art\, led to the program becoming ongoing and a new focus of Richmind’s recovery approach and brand.\n \nThis exhibition celebrates the numerous and profound benefits art can have on our mental health and the amazing diversity of ways people can express themselves creatively to support their wellbeing. SUMMARY:Christine de Grancy's 'A Day with David' | Joondalup Festival 2026
DESCRIPTION:A rare\, intimate encounter captured between a music icon and artists in a psychiatric clinic — shown for the first time in WA. \nWhat happens when one of the world’s most iconic artists steps away from the spotlight to spend a quiet day with outsider artists in a psychiatric clinic? Photographer Christine de Grancy was there to capture it\, and now\, for the first time in Western Australia\, we’re bringing these extraordinary images to Joondalup.  \n  \nOn 8 September 1994\, David Bowie\, accompanied by Brian Eno\, André Heller and photographer Christine de Grancy\, entered the grounds of the Gugging Psychiatric Clinic near Vienna. This wasn’t a casual photo opportunity. Bowie’s own family history included his half-brother Terry Burns\, whose schizophrenia and tragic suicide haunted Bowie’s life and work. At Gugging\, he encountered something profound: a community of Art Brut creators\, patients who had become internationally recognised artists\, including Oswald Tschirtner\, Johann Hauser\, Johann Garber and August Walla.  \n  \nDeGrancy captured four rolls of film that day\, revealing Bowie absorbed\, humble and intent on listening\, sketching\, sharing coffee and engaging with artists’ stories. This rare\, intimate perspective coincided with Bowie’s creative reconnection with Brian Eno\, inspiring the iconic 1. Outside album (1995).   \n  \nThirty years later\, these photographs stand as both cultural history and intimate artistic encounter\, a rare glimpse into Bowie’s search for meaning\, authenticity and connection beyond the stage.  \n  \nPresented in collaboration with Santa Monica Art Museum\, this exhibition transforms the gallery into a reflective space on creativity\, mental health and the power of art to connect worlds. DESCRIPTION:Froggy’s Fun on the Green is a free\, family-friendly mobile outdoor play session for Cockburn parents\, grandparents or carers with children aged 0 to 5 years. It offers fun activities for children and a chance for mums\, dads\, grandparents or carers to connect with others\, and also access information and support. \nTwo sessions are held per week during school terms. \nPlease note: \n\nNo bookings are required\, just sign in on the day so we can record attendance\nIf you arrive early (before 9am or 8.30am in Term 1) at the park\, use the playground until the session is set up\nDo not attend if you or your child is sick\nPlease help staff pack up after the session\nDo not bring dogs for safety reasons\nParents/carers are responsible for looking after their children at all times (please note there is a lake in Manning Park)\nPlease don’t take photos or videos of children who are not yours or who you are not caring for on the day.\nIn case of bad weather\, call 0467 713 447 to see if Froggy’s is going ahead\, but remember staff are busy setting up so cannot always respond immediately. DESCRIPTION:A rare\, intimate encounter captured between a music icon and artists in a psychiatric clinic — shown for the first time in WA. \nWhat happens when one of the world’s most iconic artists steps away from the spotlight to spend a quiet day with outsider artists in a psychiatric clinic? Photographer Christine de Grancy was there to capture it\, and now\, for the first time in Western Australia\, we’re bringing these extraordinary images to Joondalup.  \n  \nOn 8 September 1994\, David Bowie\, accompanied by Brian Eno\, André Heller and photographer Christine de Grancy\, entered the grounds of the Gugging Psychiatric Clinic near Vienna. This wasn’t a casual photo opportunity. Bowie’s own family history included his half-brother Terry Burns\, whose schizophrenia and tragic suicide haunted Bowie’s life and work. At Gugging\, he encountered something profound: a community of Art Brut creators\, patients who had become internationally recognised artists\, including Oswald Tschirtner\, Johann Hauser\, Johann Garber and August Walla.  \n  \nDeGrancy captured four rolls of film that day\, revealing Bowie absorbed\, humble and intent on listening\, sketching\, sharing coffee and engaging with artists’ stories. This rare\, intimate perspective coincided with Bowie’s creative reconnection with Brian Eno\, inspiring the iconic 1. Outside album (1995).   \n  \nThirty years later\, these photographs stand as both cultural history and intimate artistic encounter\, a rare glimpse into Bowie’s search for meaning\, authenticity and connection beyond the stage.  \n  \nPresented in collaboration with Santa Monica Art Museum\, this exhibition transforms the gallery into a reflective space on creativity\, mental health and the power of art to connect worlds. DESCRIPTION:Thanks to the City of Bayswater\nFreestyle Now will be hosting  a FREE  BMX / Mountain bike jump track coaching session\n\n\nThanks to the City of Bayswater \n \nFreestyle now will be facilitating a fun and informative coaching session at The Bayswater BMX and Mountain Bike Facility for BMX/MTB participants. Our facilitators analyze the participants’ skill level and work from that base and assist with confidence building. It is important to not only just focus on skill building but confidence as well. By using their own skill base as a stepping stone we are able to help them advance. Our coaches speak the participant’s language and speak on their level. Our instructors relay the importance of safety\, the importance of helmets and how they can minimize injuries. Freestyle Now team members will be present to offer participants technical advice\, trick tips\, skill development and skatepark etiquette. \n \nParticipants are split up into groups based on their skill level and what they are interested in achieving.  \n \nAll participants would need their own equipment\, helmet and closed in shoes. Participants with defective equipment may not be able to participate. Our coaches may be able to assist with some minor adjustments (MTr/BMX Bar straightening) before the session starts if required and time permitting. \nParticipants under the age of 6 will be taken on their ability to understand and follow instructions and to control their apparatus. \n \nKey points \n \nParticipants must be wearing a helmet \nPlease remember to bring some water and wear sunscreen \nRecommended for participants must be over the age of 6 \nParents must stay on site if their child is under 12 \nLimited spare scooters and skateboard may be available \nPlease arrive 15 minutes early to register your attendance \nDisclaimer form will need to be signed on the day \nFreestyle Now coaching workshops are fun\, informative and motivational. \n \nOur coaches let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. \n \nAll our coaches are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports\, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues. \nFreestyle Now hosts many coaching workshop sessions throughout the year for various local governments\, community organizations and private companies.
