DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce Chirriger Kwilla – An Exploration of Noongar Totems at the Zig Zag Gallery in Kalamunda. \n\nThis intergenerational exhibition brings together celebrated Noongar artist Peter Farmer Snr and his son Peter Farmer Jnr\, presenting new works on canvas created especially for this show. \nAt its heart are the artists’ deeply personal connections to their ancestral totems — the Chirriger (Blue Wren) and the Kwilla (Great White Shark) — alongside the element totem Kaarl (Fire). Totems are guides connecting us to culture\, language\, and lineage. \nThrough their art\, the Farmers invite audiences to reflect on the strength of Noongar identity and its evolving place within contemporary art today. \nThis exhibition is proudly supported by the WA Government’s Department of Creative Industries\, Tourism and Sport (CITS).

Rather than running structured activities\, we will be offering access to the centre and a range of self-guided activities. Ride your bike\, bring your friends\, pack an afternoon snack or purchase from Twitchers coffee window. \n  \nEvery Wednesday after school we will be providing a range of self-guided nature-based experiences. Come and meet other families who are wild about the natural world. Activities will vary each week and may include: \n\nScooping for macro-invertebrates\nInvertebrate sifting\nWildlife surveys\nOrienteering\nNature art\nRehabilitation\nAnimal feeding\nNature walks\nEco-games\n\n  \nThe Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre will be open to the public for Wildlife Wednesdays during school terms from 3.00pm-5.00pm.
