DESCRIPTION:Froggy’s Fun on the Green is a free\, family-friendly mobile outdoor play session for Cockburn parents\, grandparents or carers with children aged 0 to 5 years. It offers fun activities for children and a chance for mums\, dads\, grandparents or carers to connect with others\, and also access information and support. \nTwo sessions are held per week during school terms. \nPlease note: \n\nNo bookings are required\, just sign in on the day so we can record attendance\nIf you arrive early (before 9am or 8.30am in Term 1) at the park\, use the playground until the session is set up\nDo not attend if you or your child is sick\nPlease help staff pack up after the session\nDo not bring dogs for safety reasons\nParents/carers are responsible for looking after their children at all times (please note there is a lake in Manning Park)\nPlease don’t take photos or videos of children who are not yours or who you are not caring for on the day.\nIn case of bad weather\, call 0467 713 447 to see if Froggy’s is going ahead\, but remember staff are busy setting up so cannot always respond immediately. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce Chirriger Kwilla – An Exploration of Noongar Totems at the Zig Zag Gallery in Kalamunda. \n\nThis intergenerational exhibition brings together celebrated Noongar artist Peter Farmer Snr and his son Peter Farmer Jnr\, presenting new works on canvas created especially for this show. \nAt its heart are the artists’ deeply personal connections to their ancestral totems — the Chirriger (Blue Wren) and the Kwilla (Great White Shark) — alongside the element totem Kaarl (Fire). Totems are guides connecting us to culture\, language\, and lineage. \nThrough their art\, the Farmers invite audiences to reflect on the strength of Noongar identity and its evolving place within contemporary art today. \nThis exhibition is proudly supported by the WA Government’s Department of Creative Industries\, Tourism and Sport (CITS).

DESCRIPTION:Join the Djoowak Yarn for a powerful cultural experience on Wadjemup / Rottnest Island\, open to all who wish to connect and learn.\n\n\nEveryone is welcome to join this unique and enriching experience with respected Aboriginal Elders and emerging cultural leaders. Stories\, experiences\, and knowledge will be shared across generations\, honouring the strength\, vision\, and legacy of Aboriginal people and culture. \nThe Cultural Yarn will include separate men’s and women’s yarning circles\, a traditional Noongar dance performance\, and a shared meal featuring native ingredients. \nThe yarning circles will explore deep connections to Whadjuk Boodja (Country) as well as the rich history and significance of Wadjemup. \nDrawing on artefacts from the Wadjemup Museum – including one of the largest collections of Aboriginal glass artefacts in Australia – the yarning will weave together stories of community and culture\, from traditional lore and personal narratives to contemporary practices and aspirations for the future. \n \nHonouring Past and Future Generations\nIn Noongar language\, djoowak means future and previous generations. The Djoowak Yarn honours the 2025 NAIDOC theme\, The Next Generation: Strength\, Vision and Legacy\, and represents the responsibility to honour those who came before us\, while guiding those yet to come. \n \nImportant notes:\n\nThis family-friendly event is free to attend but registration is required due to limited capacity.\nPlease ensure you register all members of your group\, including children.\nWe invite people of all genders to join. Children are also welcome; however\, they must always be accompanied by an adult and supervised throughout the event.\n\nEvent subject to change. \n \n\n\nProgram & Schedule\nThe event will begin at 11:30 am with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Elders\, followed by an Aboriginal dance performance. Guests will then break into male and female yarning circles to engage in reflection and conversations about traditional lore including art\, culture\, and contemporary practices of today. \nThe yarning will include the sharing of food featuring native flavours and ingredients from Aboriginal cater Gather Foods which is complimentary for those who attend. \nVegetarian and gluten-free options will be available. \n \n\n\nWhere to Find the Event\nThis event takes place in the Wadjemup Museum Yarning Circle area within Wadjemup Museum Sculpture Garden adjacent to the museum.  \nYou will find Wadjemup Museum behind the settlement mall on Wadjemup / Rottnest Island\, an easy walk from the main jetty in Thomson Bay.  \n \n\n\nFerry Travel\nFerry tickets to Wadjemup / Rottnest Island are not included in your event registration\, so don’t forget to book your tickets now with: \nSeaLink Rottnest \nRottnest Express \nRottnest Fast Ferries \n \n\n\nAbout the Event\nThis event is presented by the Rottnest Island Authority which aims to bring a series of Aboriginal cultural experiences to and around the Wadjemup Museum on Wadjemup / Rottnest Island. \nCultural Yarns offers all people\, including visitors\, the opportunity to connect with and learn about Aboriginal culture. The initiative also aims to build capacity for emerging Aboriginal presenters and leaders to enter cultural heritage and the tourism sector. \nEmerging leaders for Cultural Yarns will be mentored and guided by Elders. \n \n\n\nAcknowledgement of Country\nWe acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people as the Traditional Owners of Wadjemup\, their continued connection to the island and its waters\, and pay our respects to Elders past\, present and future.  \nWe pay respect to all Aboriginal people affected by the historical use of Wadjemup as a place of unjust incarceration\, especially the men and boys whose bodies remain at Wadjemup\, and to the families and descendants who lost them.

DESCRIPTION:Skate Jams are a great opportunity for young people to head down to the local skate park and hang out with Youth Workers in a free supervised session. Participants can BYO their own equipment or can utilise skateboards and helmets provided by Youth Workers on shift. Additional sports equipment\, as well as chairs\, music and snacks are also provided.  \nThis is a drop-in style program; thus\, no registration is required to attend and is open for all ages to attend. \n  \nSkate Jam Days and Times\nSkate Jams are held at various City of Gosnells Skate Parks throughout the year.
