Zippy’s Kings Park Adventurers – Term 1 2022: ‘Explorer of the World’
February 15 @ 9:30 am - April 5 @ 10:15 am
‘I am an Explorer of the World’
Children learning through play and their own discoveries is one of the pillars of early learning.
In Term One, children are provided with experiences which invite them to develop the skills that will support them to intentionally investigate in a bushland environment.
Children are supported to develop a sense of belonging, confidence and connection by building a relationship with our bushland classroom, our educators and their peers. We will continue to revisit the same outdoor spaces, becoming familiar and observing the changes over the seasons towards developing a sense of custodianship.
We will utilise the environment as a facilitator of learning to encourage children to explore, pose questions, solve problems and actively construct knowledge, instilling an intrinsic enjoyment for learning:
- Developing a positive sense of self and attitude of ‘I can do it’ which will lend itself to building resilience and persistence.
- Harnessing the five senses and strengthening observation skills
- How children can keep themselves safe in the bush and enjoy the outdoors safely by assessing and negotiating risk
- Barefoot sensory play
- Develop an awareness of seasonal changes in the environment
- Children are invited to express themselves through different art modes to communicate what they have learnt after each session
One 45-minute session per week over an 8 week term will see your child grow in confidence, knowledge and feel a greater connection to nature. They will gain a deeper understanding of the world around them, all while having fun!
Each term is a stand-alone experience! New stories and nature-based activities are introduced each term, to reflect the changing seasons and keep children engaged throughout the year. Browse other Zippy terms.
Your little one will receive a ‘Zippy Zoomer’ participation certificate at the end of the term to recognise their learning achievement.
“Everything about Zippy’s is fantastic and it’s been the highlight of my week this year. I especially love the topic variety and plenty of hands-on opportunities for the kids.” – Zippy Parent
