Threatened Species Day – Project Numbat
September 7 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
National Threatened Species Day occurs every year on September 7th and marks the day the last Tasmanian tiger (Thylacine) died in captivity.
Join us on Threatened Species Day for a talk by zoologist Rob Hemsworth, President of Project Numbat, about the conservation of Western Australia’s unique mammal emblem.
Numbats are under threat from habitat loss and introduced predators like foxes and feral cats. With an estimated population of approximately 2000 individuals, they need our help.
Project Numbat promotes community awareness of the numbat and is involved in numbat conservation by assisting the Numbat Recovery Program. This includes habitat management, population monitoring, feral predator control, education and awareness programs and fundraising for numbat conservation.
Any donations to Project Numbat gratefully accepted at the talk and there will be Numbat merchandise available to purchase. There will be some activities for children who accompany adults attending the talk.
Further details about Project Numbat are available at http://www.numbat.org.au
