Thinking Green: Mend and fix to enjoy again (Ballajura)
March 18 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Please note that this is a program for adults and young people aged 16 and over and is a hands-on workshop. Photographs and videos may be taken of the event. Please book one ticket for each person attending.
This workshop with the local upcycler Mariana Kirova of EcoFashionSewing.com will empower you with hand and machine sewing skills on valuable fixes, darning, invisible and more creative visible mending techniques. You will learn how to rejuvenate favourite clothing items that still have a lot of love to give. Bring a few old favourites that need a fix and practice applying insider’s tips and tricks shared in this class.
This hands-on workshop will demonstrate both hand and machine sewing techniques. Although you don’t need sewing experience for the hand sewing, you’ll need to know how to thread and use your sewing machine if you choose to practice the demonstrated machine techniques.
There will be a limited number of machines available for sharing, but attendees are highly encouraged to bring their own machine for easy practice of the machine techniques. All participants will need to bring basic sewing items, such as hand-sewing needles, threads, scissors, and other notions which will be further communicated via email before the workshop.
Thinking Green is a series of free programs hosted across the City’s libraries and community venues! To find out more and see the full list of workshops and talks, visit the City of Swan Libraries website.
