Support for you and your child who is Deaf or hard of hearing
November 15, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Wanslea partners with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to deliver the Early Childhood Approach which supports families of children under 6 years’ who may have a developmental concern or delay, or children under 9 years who have a permanent disability.
This group is part of a series Wanslea are delivering in 2023 to better support parents and carers of Deaf or hard of hearing children to better understand early interventions supports for Deaf and hard of hearing children and learn more about how to put their child’s NDIS plan into action.
As part of this series, Wanslea invites you to this special group with guest presenter, Drisana Levitzke-Gray.
About Drisana Levitzke-Gray:
Drisana is the recipient of the 2015 Young Australian of the Year Award and WA Young Australian Australian of the Year Award, in recognition of her passion and dedication in advocating for the human rights of deaf people. She raises awareness about Auslan (Australian Sign Language), and the right of deaf children in Australia to access Auslan from birth and to grow up bilingual and bicultural.
Drisana is the embodiment of the concept of ‘Deaf gain’, not ‘hearing loss’, inspiring the Deaf community, and encouraging the wider community to accept diversity. Drisana consistently promotes a positive image of deafness, which states loudly and proudly: “It’s OK to be deaf”.
