Star Swamp forest bathing/mindfulness walk

April 11 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Free

Forest Bathing – What is it? Forest bathing also known as ‘Shinrin-yoku’ in Japan, which translates as ‘to bathe in ambience of the forest’. It is the art and science of how trees, plants, soil and their ecosystems vitally contribute to human health, relaxation, connection and happiness. Forest Bathing is great for our health!

Max 12 participants per walk. Walks are tailored for people over 15 years old that can navigate uneven walk trails.

When: 9th April and 11th April 2024

Where: Meet at the Henderson Environmental Centre, Groat St, North Beach.

Time: 9am to 11.30 am

The group walks together mindfully, about 1.5 km in 2.5 hours around Star Swamp tracks, starting and finishing at the Henderson Centre. A series of invitations are offered throughout the walk which allow participants to connect with nature using the senses around them. These walks will allow participants time to dabble in nature journaling or create some ephemeral art.

About the facilitator: Johanna Riddell is a conservation scientist, tree canopy and conservation advocate, educator, artist, bushwalker and qualified Forest Bathing guide (INFTA).
