Preparing for the Marketplace (Job Ready) – Ages 15-18
September 30 @ 1:00 pm - October 31 @ 3:00 pm
The programme is targeted at youths aged 15 to 18, being delivered through a 2-hour workshop session.
Key Learning Objectives
• Articulate how to address the Selection Criteria for a role
• Build a resume
• Create a Cover Letter
1. Selecting A Fit:
Through group activities, participants learn to search for roles online, identify the selection criteria for a role, and assess if the specific role is a suitable fit for themselves. They will also learn to differentiate between a cover letter, resume, CV and providing a statement of response.
2. Showcasing Myself:
Participants will be introduced to the LinkedIn platform, and how to use it for job searches. They will use the platform to create a personal profile for themselves, learning how to elevate their profiles even with limited work experience. This profile will then form the foundation of their resume building.
3. Being Seen:
Integrating their knowledge of selection criteria and resume-writing, participants will develop skills to edit and tweak their resume for specific job applications. They will also learn to identify information of the hiring manager (both online and offline), drafting a cover letter that fits the role description while appealing to the hirer.
Participants will be required to bring their own device (laptop, tablet) in order to create their resume during the workshop.
