It’s All About Learning Together : Senses Alive Rhymetime

This Sensory Rhymetime is for children aged 0-4 years.
Sensory Rhymetime takes popular rhymes like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and Ride a Big Horse and connects them with live music, singing and interactive sensory play to create a unique, fun and educational experience for children with disability, developmental delay, autism and other access needs.
Music and sensory play (touch, taste and smell) add to children’s understanding and enjoyment of stories, and support the development of language and independence.
During sessions, children can:
• Sit/lie on a mat/cushion; in a chair/wheelchair or on a carer’s lap
• Listen to singing and musical instruments
• Make sounds & move around
• Play & join in

Frequently Asked Questions
45 minutes is a long time. Will my children be bored?
It is unlikely as there is lots to touch, look at, listen to and interact with.
What if my children won’t sit still?
Children do not need to sit still! As long as everyone is safe, students can move around and enjoy the experience in their own way.
What if my children are disruptive?
Children respond in all kinds of ways and we don’t consider any response disruptive. If a child is at risk of harming themselves or others, we will ask for your support in re-directing them.
My child doesn’t like touching things or joining in. Will it be OK for them?
Children can choose whether or not they want to join in. Some children prefer watching and listening; others are more active; you may be surprised by their response.
How can I help my child enjoy the experience?
Have fun yourself! Join in with a playful and open-minded attitude. You’re safe in our hands.
My children have allergies
We communicate any ingredients we use before each session and, with notice, can provide alternatives. We double check any potential allergens at the start of each session.
