Healthy Horizons | School Holiday Program | Karrinyup

Free 2 day program which includes learning emotion regulation skills and communication skills alongside an excursion to Outback Splash!

Free 2 day school holiday program for young people aged in years 7 and 8 who has a family member or a friend living with a mental health challenge. The program will include learning emotion regulation skills and communication skills alongside an excursion to Outback Splash!

Thursday, 18 January| 9:30am – 3:30pm
Friday, 19 January | 9:30am – 3:30pm (Excursion to Outback Splash)
Children are required to attend both days

Who

Youth aged in years 7 or 8 who has a family member or a friend living with a mental health challenge.

Where

Stirling Community Centres Karrinyup – 2 Nerita Way Karrinyup

Bring

Hat, sunscreen, water bottle, swimwear or clothing able to get wet

Excursion Itinerary
Parents/caregivers to drop children at Stirling Community Centres Karrinyup – 2 Nerita Way Karrinyup at 9:30am.
Bus pickup from centre in Karrinyup (2 Nerita Way) at 10am going to Outback Splash.

Bus pickup at Outback Splash 2.30pm returning to centre in Karrinyup for 3.30pm collection by parents/caregivers.

Booking a ticket does not mean your space is secured – one of the HelpingMinds Team will be in touch to advise if your child has secured a spot.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

· If your child has not received support from HelpingMinds before (or within the last 6 months) a phone interview will need to take place with the parent/guardian

· A consent form will need to be signed by both parents.

· If children require medication throughout the day, they will be required to self-administer this.

· External support workers are not allowed at the workshop.

· Children require adequate independent coping skills to be able to deal with group situations.

· Your child must either have a family member or a friend living with mental health challenge or is at risk of developing mental health challenge themselves.

· All our workshops have a maximum capacity to ensure our counsellors can provide adequate professional support for all children attending.

· To give everyone in the community a fair chance, each child can enrol in a maximum of two workshops.
