Celebrate Lunar New Year – Coolbellup Library

Lunar New Year is celebrated throughout Asia, influenced by the Chinese Lunar Calendar whose months are based on moon cycles. It is often referred to as the Spring Festival and celebrates the beginning of a new year.

2024 is the year of the Dragon and celebrations continue for the month of February.

Cockburn Libraries are proud to celebrate at Coolbellup Library with the Spirit of Okinawa Sanshin performance along with a traditional dance and children’s choir performance and lots of fun craft activities for the kids!

9.30-11.30am Children’s activities such as making:

  • Dragon masks
  • Dragon puppets
  • Lucky red envelopes
  • Zodiac wheel
  • Chopsticks games

10am Traditional Chinese dance performance
10.45am Spirit of Okinawa Sanshin performance
