Help Australian scientists understand how galaxies grow and evolve!
AstroQuest is a citizen scientist research project designed in a gaming format. You are presented with an image of a galaxy, with a computer-generated overlay that identifies the light coming from that galaxy or from overlapping stars. Your job is to tell us if the computer got the overlay right or wrong. There are simple questions to help you make your decision. If it’s right, mark as correct and you’ll move to the next galaxy. If it’s wrong, you can fix it using paint tools, and help us train the computer algorithm.
Before you begin with AstroQuest, you will need a make an account – this is the longest part of your participation, and from this time forward you can spend anywhere from five minutes to hours on the site.
Once you have an account, you start with simple galaxies and every time you complete a galaxy you’re moved on to more complex images. You can skip a galaxy at any time and move on to another one. You can also get in touch with us through email.
