The 2022 Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games presented by Drug Aware

The Action Sports Games has been a Western Australians premier action sports event for the past decade. Taking place over the weekend of 14th and 15th of May at Hall Park on the Mandurah Western Foreshore. The Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games presented by Drug Aware is one weekend you don’t want to miss. The Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games will be a combination of wakeboarding, freestyle motocross, skateboarding, BMX and scooter events into an action-packed weekend of extreme sports along with the Food Truck Festival and DJ’s keeping the good times rolling all day long. Over the two days the wakeboarding competition taking place on Mandjar Bay while the skatepark will defiantly be a highlight over the weekend with BMX, scooter and skateboard competitors sharing in over $5000 in cash and prizes. 2022 will be the first time there is a woman’s open skateboard class sharing in the prize money.

The skatepark will host two bowl competitions back to back with Saturday seeing the action in the small bowl and Sunday will be all about the big bowl. Both competition places will be combined to find the Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games champion. Any ties for 1st, 2nd or 3rd is decided by a run off. Competitors will need to compete in both small and big bowl competitions to make their points count. The competition caters for participants from under 10 to the top skilled pro riders.

2022 Action Sports Games skatepark competition schedule

Time schedules can change due to competitor numbers. We will do our best to remain of schedule but it’s a skatepark competition so be prepared for changes at any time.

Register online to save you time on the day. If you are going to register on the day you will pay more and you will have to be early to register. Make your time easy and our and register online. Online registrations need to check in 20 minutes before your scheduled competition time.

Competitors can enter multi disciplines but only one class in each. We will not refund you your entry fee if you have entered more that one class.

Saturday small bowl competition

BMX

  • Check in and warm up – 8:30am – 9:00am
  • Under 10’s – 9am – 9:30am
  • Beginner – 9:30am – 10:10am
  • Intermediate – 10:10am – 10:50am
  • Elite – 10:50am – 11:20am

Scooter

  • Check in and warm up – 12noon – 12:30pm
  • Under 10’s – 12:30 – 1pm
  • Beginner – 1pm – 1:40pm
  • Intermediate – 1:40pm – 2:20pm
  • Open – 2:20pm – 2:50pm

Skateboard

  • Check in and warm up – 3:30pm – 4pm
  • 9 and under – 4pm – 4:50pm
  • 12 and under – 4:50pm – 5:40pm
  • 15 and under – 5:40pm – 6:40pm
  • Open woman’s and men’s – 6:40pm – 7:40pm

Sunday big bowl competition

Scooter

SKATEBOARD COMPETITION INFORMATION

Divisions – 9 and under, 12 and under, 15 and under, Open woman’s, Open men’s

Male and female compete in the same age division

This will be an Australian Skateboard Federation points competition

Open woman’s and men’s class will be competition for a guaranteed $700 prize money in each class. Percentage of entry fees go back to increase prize money. More competitors, more prize money.

Any female skater competing in the woman’s open class will be stepping it up and will be required to compete in mixed open class at any future Freestyle Now competitions.

Each competitor gets 2 x 1 minute individual run on both days. Your best run counts for your score (highest points win). Judging criteria is listed below.

Both competition places will be combined to find the Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games champion. Any ties for 1st, 2nd or 3rd is decided by a run off.

Entry fee skateboard

9 and under, 12 and under, 15 and under

$10 – plus Eventbrite ticket fee (if register on line)

$20 – on the day

Open woman’s and open men’s

Mandurah Action Sports Games skatepark competition judging criteria

Difficulty. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points

Definition – Tricks that are difficult to execute, Technical tricks, Difficult lines within the park, Large gaps or high airs will also be taken into account

Diversity. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points

Definition – A run consisting of various types of tricks (grinds, stalls and airs), Using the park to its full capability (tricking on as many obstacles as you can), Using the park in ways that other competitors are not (original lines through the park or tricking parts of the park that no one is tricking.), The more varied the run and the more obstacles ridden the higher the score.

Consistency. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points

Definition – A run that has been done without any feet touching by mistake or crashes, Tricks done but not pulled smooth will also come into account with consistency points, The less touches or crashes and the smoother the run the higher the score the competitor will receive
