Spring School Holiday Fun at the Orchard

Spring has sprung in the Chittering Valley and we would love to invite you back these school holidays for some jam packed fun in the orchard!
With lots to do and see, this is sure to be a hit with the kids!
Gates open at 9.30am and close at 4pm. Come for a couple of hours or stay all day. Online bookings are essential.

Tractor ride:
Enjoy a scenic tractor ride, through the orchard with a farmer guide. Tours run every half an hour starting from 10am with the last one at 3pm.
Interactive garden activities:
Join Erin for fun interactive gardening activities, throughout the day. Plant seeds in our new vegetable garden and plant your own to take home.
Scavenger hunt:
Pick up your list of clues from the Packing Shed and start your scavenger hunt through the orchard anytime. Follow the clues through the orchard in your own time, and collect the code at each point. Return with all the codes to win a prize 🙂

Animal petting and feeding:
Meet our friendly Golden Grove Orchard farm animals, and have a turn to feed them, including Disco the pony, sheep, Alpacas, goats and cows.
Picnic In The Orchard:
Bring your own picnic or purchase some light refreshments from our cafe and picnic under the citrus trees.
Fruit Picking:
Pick fresh citrus fruit straight from the trees to eat (yummy!). You only pay for what you pick to take home ($4 per kg).

Pixar Putt – Perth

Araluen Botanic Park’s Tulip Festival

Araluen Botanic Park will set the scene for a stunning kaleidoscope of colour during Springtime 🌷
Spanning 14 hectares, featuring 150,000 Tulips in bloom, complimented by 36,000 Spring flowering bulbs against, against the backdrop of a beautiful bushland setting. For a moment of peace and solitude, terraced garden precincts and jarrah pergola shelters are offered throughout the Park, dating back to the 1930s.
Feast on the delectable delights at the Chalet Healy Café, refurbished and reopened in time for Springtime, or visit Roundhouse to try out the exciting teahouse patisserie menu, with roasted coffee and handmade cakes.
Budding young explorers can join in a treasure hunt to receive a lucky dip prize, or take a selfie with one the magical freedom fairies.
There will be guided walking tours to learn more about the garden plant collections and heritage of Araluen. If you want to try your hand at painting, Cabernet and Canvas will host art classes, or if you prefer a more active experience, then book a hike with The Hiking Collective.

Urban Farm Play Day – School Holidays Tour & Animals

Come and enjoy an urban farm experience with a guided tour of Perth City Farm and time with the animals from Farmer Damian’s Moobile Farm. This school holiday activity is suited to children aged 4-11.
Perth City Farm is a 26 year old Urban Farm that provides space and opportunities to build community connections, and educates and enables people to live sustainably. Founded on the site of a former battery recycling facility, this once toxic site has been lovingly rehabilitated over many years to become a Western Australian icon for environmental sustainability and community engagement.
We love to show children around the farm and will cover themes including:
// Food production- veggie growing, fruit trees, medicinal herbs
// Waste management- compost, worm farms, recycling centre
// Animals- chickens, ducks and bees and their care
// Outdoor art- street art, mosaics, sculpture
// History of the farm as a volunteer lead community project
The experience includes time spent with Farmer Damian and his kid-friendly animals including sheep, rabbits, chickens, ducks and geese. Children will get to feed and pet the animals, and learn about how they are cared for.

The Bird Makers Project – Dianella Library

The Bird Makers Project is a global initiative devised by Raewyn Hill and Naoko Yoshimoto with Co3 Contemporary Dance, WA’s premier contemporary dance company. It will provide a unique opportunity to connect in a way that provides a purposeful, creative and reflective experience during a time in our world that is uncertain and unstable. Suitable for beginner and advanced sewers, you will be guided through online resources to create a single black bird made from your own donated piece of clothing. These black birds will represent your time in isolation as we stand side by side in an unimagined situation, making history together.
The birds will be collected to represent the stories, memories and histories of people from all backgrounds in Western Australia today. These birds and their stories will come together to become the set for Co:3 Australia’s main stage production in 2021!

The Go for 2 & 5 Children’s Week Family Fun Day is made possible thanks to the support of Lotterywest, the WA Department of Education, the Australian Department of Education, Skills and Employment and Healthway promoting the Go for 2 & 5 message.

The City of Joondalup’s popular Little Feet Festival this year returns and will be launching into outer space. Immerse yourself in the wonders of the solar system and fulfill curiosities through on-stage performances, facilitated art workshops and interactive activities. Collect a free activity book upon arrival to begin your journey through outer space.

This free event is a short walk from Joondalup Train Station. Alternatively, the venue can be easily accessed by car with ample free parking on-site. Food and drink will also be available for purchase.
