Cafe Denada – If you’re south of the river and looking for a relaxed, welcoming cafe for a breakfast or lunch, Cafe Denada might be the place for you. There is an option of indoor or shaded outdoor dining in the courtyard. If you choose to sit inside, local artists work is displayed and for sale on the walls. It’s a colourful feast for the eyes! Highchairs are available inside – check just up the hallway past the counter.Inside, there is a shining case full of delicious things. There’s slices and cakes, including gluten-free options, pastries and tarts, risotto balls and patties, sandwiches and salads. So many options to choose from!
On the counter there is a multitude of jars full of various cookies, and delicious looking cakes under glass covers. We decided to drop in for an impromptu family breakfast, and found the service excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful.
My husband and I each enjoyed a tasty eggs Benedict with ham. He had a fresh squeezed orange juice, while I had a latte. Our breakfasts came out quickly, and as quite generous servings, including extra slices of toast on the side to soak up the egg and sauce. The coffee was a mild, fruity blend.
Miss almost 3 opted for a Smartie cookie for morning tea since she ate breakie before we headed out. Miss almost 3 thought the cookie was amazing!
There are a few options on the menu that would appeal to littler diners. The One Egg on Toast is the perfect size for little tummies, with the option of a poached, scrambled or grilled free-range egg. Bacon, chipolatas, avocado, or a hash brown can be added for an extra $1 or $2 each. For hungrier tummies, a Mini Jumbo made up of one free-range egg, bacon, herb roasted tomatoes, a chipolata, a hash brown and Spanish beans is bound to fill them full of energy to start off the day.
For sweeter tastes, there is fruity Scottish malt toast with butter and preserves, banana bread, maple poached fruit with vanilla bean yoghurt, or the in-house waffles or pancakes with toppings such as banana, caramel and toasted coconut or berries, maples and crunchy granola flakes to satisfy the sweet tooth.
There is also the option of multigrain, white, gluten-free or Turkish bread toast with butter and preserves if the kids just want something simple.
As well as coffee, tea and hot chocolate, Cafe Denada serves cold-pressed juices or fresh fruit smoothies.
