If you’re looking for family-friendly events and activities for the month of April, then Buggybuddys has you covered with a list of events the whole family will enjoy.

***UPDATE *** 16-03-2020

Given our current climate of reducing the potential spread of COVID-19, we regret that a number of events in Perth for April have been cancelled. Of those that remain, please check the event post or contact the organiser to ensure if they are going ahead before attending. Until we have advice for further social isolation, smaller events with controlled environments may continue or may become online events instead. Please assess if this is right for your family and take all necessary hygiene precautions to remain safe and healthy.

Mistake Maker – 2 Day Workshop (Ages 6+)

Tuesday, 21 April & Wednesday, 22 April, 9am to 4.30pm
The Art Space Collective, 80A Scarborough Beach Road, Scarborough

Does your child struggle with BIG emotions when they make a mistake or something does not go to plan? In this course we teach kids that mistakes happen but it’s how you think about them that matters

We will teach them skills to accept the emotions that come with making mistakes and tools and tricks to deal with mistakes in a positive way.

In this two day program kids will explore the art of being and thinking like a Mistake Maker through:

creating “Make something great from a mistake” sculpting and painting projects;

learning about famous Mistake Makers in history; and

improving their problem solving skills by doing STEAM challenges.

As this program is a bit longer than a normal day, kids will do some mindfulness colouring in and meditation exercises that support learning and wellbeing.

The two day program will give kids the Breath, Admit and Think tool to help them react when mistakes strike and give them:

strategies for dealing with mistakes confidently.

confidence and perspective to face mistakes;

a language to identify how they are feeling and thinking when they make mistakes;

The BAT (Breathe Admit and Think) tool will help kids react with more confidence when mistakes strike.

Parents will receive a copy of the BAT tool with parent information sheet to support their children deal with mistakes after the program.
In addition, to looking fabulous, the three completed art projects will act as reminders of the messages long after they are finished.
Paint smocks are provided but we encourage you to send your child in clothes that don’t mind a bit of mess.

Bring a nut free morning and afternoon tea, lunch and water bottle each day.

Please check your dates carefully as there are no refunds. If you can no longer make this date, you will be able to transfer to another workshop within six months of the workshop. Transfer to another child is possible.
